The Council of Colleges and Military Educators (CCME) recognized Thomas Edison State University as its Institution of the Year today at an awards luncheon during their annual symposium in New York City.
The CCME Institution Award is presented “to a higher education institution in recognition of its significant contributions to the cause of military education,” according to CCME. “The recipient will be a college or university that supplies quality education programs to the armed services.”
“For 50 years we have strived to meet the needs of our men and women in uniform while they serve and protect our country,” said Dr. Merodie A. Hancock, president, in accepting the award. “Thomas Edison State University, like all CCME institutions, appreciates the dedication and commitment it takes to meet this unique population’s goals. Thank you CCME for the award and for all you do for our military and for continuing on the promise of vol ed.”
CCME is a not-for-profit organization founded almost 50 years ago to promote, encourage, and deliver quality education to service members and their families in all branches of the armed services. Its membership is principally composed of military educators, civilian educators, post-secondary educational institutions, and suppliers of quality education products and services.
The CCME symposium is the largest annual forum in the country with an average attendance of about 1,000 participants. The annual symposium facilitates the networking and interaction of the key leadership across these organizations in an environment that is focused on enhancing and optimizing voluntary education opportunities for the service member and their families.
