Ramapo College of New Jersey received $31 million in capital facilities grant funding to repurpose a 30-year residence hall into a hub for student-centered and administrative programs.
The award was announced Monday by the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education as part of the nearly $400 million allocated toward the growing infrastructure and technology needs of New Jersey’s higher education sector. The development aims to establish Linden Hall as a vibrant and student-centric space, reinforcing RCNJ’s commitment to educational excellence and innovative learning.
Linden Hall, originally constructed as a college dormitory 30 years ago, offers an expanse of approximately 40,000 square feet of indoor floor space. Despite its previous partial retrofitting, the building’s true potential has remained untapped.
With funding by the Higher Education Capital Improvement Fund, the reimagined space will present an opportunity to enhance energy efficiency in line with the college’s sustainability goals while furthering its mission to create a student-centered campus as outlined by the school’s master plan.
Once complete, the redesign project will create a space that fosters collaboration, active engagement and holistic support for both Ramapo’s students and community members. Multipurpose meeting rooms and collaborative spaces will cater to the diverse needs of current and future generations of students, faculty and staff.
