Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University jumped to No. 84 among the Top 100 Public National Universities, according to the 2024 U.S. News & World Report College Rankings released today.

Stockton ranked 84 out of 227 public colleges and universities in the nation and No. 159 of 436 on the Best National Universities list.

This is Stockton’s second year in a row in the national rankings. Previously, Stockton was included on the top 10 Best Regional Universities-North.

Stockton also vaulted 49 spots to No. 26 this year among the Top Performers on Social Mobility – National Universities. This category highlights schools that actively and effectively enroll and graduate large proportions of economically disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants.

Similarly, The New York Times released its College-Access Index this month, which ranks Stockton as No. 11 for the share of first-year, first-time students receiving Pell Grants out of the nation’s 286 most-selective colleges. Stockton’s share of Pell-eligible students has not changed since 2011, demonstrating Stockton’s continued commitment to helping all students pursue a degree.

“These rankings make clear Stockton University is a place where everyone belongs,” President Joe Bertolino said. “For more than 50 years, Stockton has been dedicated to helping students pursue their college dreams. Considering we have some of the best four- and six-year college graduation rates in the state, we are delivering on our promise.”

Bertolino said Stockton prides itself on providing a quality education that is both affordable and accessible to a diverse population of students. This includes the Stockton Promise and Garden State Guarantee initiatives that help lower-income students receive free tuition and fees, and enhanced student services programs that help students take advantage of all the opportunities the university offers outside of the classroom, including internships, research and travel.

Stockton’s current student body is the most diverse in the university’s history, with 41% of students identifying as minority or multi-race, Bertolino said.

“We recently opened the Multicultural Center, adding to our collection of spaces to better serve our students, along with the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Center and the Veteran’s Success Center. Building the spaces is not enough – we must continue to develop and implement the programming and provide the resources needed to help our students feel supported and have a sense of belonging,” he said.

Stockton continues to be recognized as one of the Best for Veterans National Universities and Best Value National Universities by U.S. News & World Report.

Stockton was included this year in The Wall Street Journal Best College Rankings for 2024, Washington Monthly’s 2023 National University Rankings, The Princeton Review’s “Best Regional Colleges,” the Forbes “America’s Top Colleges” listing, Military Times’ “Best for Vets: Colleges,” and Money magazine’s “Best Colleges for Your Money” 2023 edition.

The university’s two residential campuses, in the Pinelands National Reserve and on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, offer students opportunities to live and learn in two distinct environments.
