Kean University recently announced they have achieved a historic milestone with a record near 19,000 enrollment across all campuses this semester. How it got there is a testament to the diverse offerings the school provides.
Of the 4,100 new students this Fall, 2,000 are freshman, 1,450 are transfers and 670 are graduate school enrollees. The student body hails from 36 states and 69 countries.
Kean’s student population also includes approximately 5,000 students at Wenzhou-Kean University in China and reflects growth at both Kean Online and Kean Ocean in Toms River.
Kean President Lamont Repollet praised the university’s continued dedication.
“Kean University’s continued growth in both size and reputation reflects our commitment to serving as a premier research university,” he said. “Students choose Kean because they see the opportunities, innovation and excellence that define our community, and they know they will leave here prepared for career success.”
University officials said the university has increased enrollment through its efforts on enhancing student access, affordability and support and bolstering academic programs and global opportunities.
Kean has since experienced record enrollment in several undergraduate programs, including psychology, biological sciences, accounting, criminal justice, marketing and early childhood education.
This Fall, Kean also will launch New Jersey’s first Bachelor of Science in artificial intelligence program, one of only a few such programs nationwide. The university is also introducing a Ph.D. in computer science and establishing a new Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence, reinforcing its role as a leader in preparing students for the future of work.
Kean EVP Michael Salvatore praised the school’s outlook for the future.
“These new programs reflect Kean’s innovative spirit and our drive to stay ahead of the curve in meeting student and workforce needs,” he said. “We are constantly expanding opportunities in high-demand fields, so our graduates are ready to lead in the global economy.”
