Five alumni representing four decades of graduating classes have been elected to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Joining the board are Ryan Chiu, Charles E. Garrity, Jillian Green, James C. Hedden, and Brendan Scher. Together, they bring experience in finance, entrepreneurship, public service, and corporate leadership to the TCNJ Foundation.
“The foundation relies on the talents of its all-volunteer board to fulfill its mission,” said Executive Director David Muha. “We’re incredibly grateful that these accomplished alumni have chosen to continue their deep connection to TCNJ in this meaningful way. Their diverse professional experiences will be invaluable as we work together to secure and steward the vital funds that ensure equitable access and an exceptional educational experience for our students.”
Chiu is a senior vice president in Silicon Valley Bank’s Global Fund Banking practice, where he structures fund finance solutions for venture capital and private equity firms. Before joining the bank, he co-founded MARCo Health Inc., a company developing robotics to support mental health that won TCNJ’s 2018 Mayo Business Plan Competition.
Garrity is president and founder of Death of the Fox Brewing Company and chief operating officer of Woolwich Wellness Company. Earlier in his career, he spent over 15 years leading health-care consulting engagements as a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers and principal at KPMG.
Greene is a financial adviser with Mack Greene Group at UBS Wealth Management, where she helps individuals and families develop comprehensive financial strategies. After interning with UBS as a TCNJ student, she joined the team full-time after graduating and has played an integral role in the team’s growth.
Hedden has spent decades working in public service and state government. A former two-term Mercer County freeholder and the 1984 Democratic nominee for New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District, Hedden also held senior positions in the New Jersey Departments of the Treasury and Community Affairs and served as legislative coordinator for AFSCME.
Scher is vice president of finance and corporate development at 120Water, where he leads financial strategy, capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. Previously, he was an investor with Edison Partners and Escalate Capital and worked in investment banking and public finance with Solomon Partners, Deutsche Bank and Fitch Ratings.
The College of New Jersey Foundation encourages and receives philanthropic support to expand access to and enhance the outstanding educational opportunities available to students at The College of New Jersey. The foundation carries out its mission by establishing funds for student support, learning experiences, academic enrichment, and capital improvement.
By promoting a culture of philanthropy and through prudent investment, stewardship, and accountability to donors and the community, the foundation advances the college’s mission and reputation as a nationally recognized public institution.
